Buy a brick, build a college

Thanks to generous donations from Kuanzia supporters, BAMI vocational college is now located on its own land 6 kms outside Mbale in a growing suburb slowly being absorbed into the city. It is a beautiful and fertile site overlooking the city, and is grazed by the college’s livestock and farmed by its agricultural students, offering plenty of scope for ‘on the job’ training and experience. But at present the teaching rooms and student accommodation are in temporary mud-brick buildings – cheap to erect, but not designed for the long term. The local city council is now putting pressure on the college to become more permanent and is threatening to refuse its license to operate if it does not build permanent college accommodation and facilities on the site. It will take approximately £25,000 to complete the initial phase of teaching and student accommodation.

We at Kuanzia Trust have set ourselves the target of raising this sum of money, and so we are launching our Buy a Brick, Build a College campaign. We are offering our supporters the chance to ‘buy a brick’ (or several) and make the dream of permanent buildings on the college’s beautiful site a reality. Those who donate £1000 or more will have the option of having a college room named after them or in memory of a loved one.
