Kakira

Kakira is a community of some five thousand people centred on a sugar cane plantation and associated factories. It is located near Jinja, Uganda. Workers come from all over East and Central Africa and so family support structures are weak and there is considerable poverty.

Kakira Community Church has a vision to reach out into all of the communities on the plantation, planting cell groups in each camp of workers.

They support a growing number of orphans and we have been able to buy land for the church which has enabled them to find funding to start building a home for orphans as well as providing a meeting place for the church.
