BAMI Vocational College - The Vision
BAMI College lies just outside Mbale, the second largest city in Uganda. It was founded in 2000 by Paul Wabakoma, a Ugandan pastor with a degree in sustainable agriculture and theology from a South African University. The college vision is to offer education and practical training in a wide range of subject areas, including bricklaying, carpentry, motor mechanics, secretarial and business administration, sustainable agriculture. As well as vocational training, the college offers a programme of theological education for local church leaders and trains them to introduce sustainable agriculture practices to their communities. It also runs extensive HIV/AIDS and other social programmes in the surrounding villages and towns.
Training for life
The young men and women who attend BAMI vocational college are learning skills for life that will enable them to support themselves and their families. Over the past decade numerous students have graduated from the college with the practical expertise that enables them to find employment or run their own businesses.
